New CRF Rates In Effect April 1, 2025

Notice issued to all beverage product brand owners registered with Encorp Atlantic/Encorp Atlantique
(Date of issue: October 29, 2024)

As part of the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Beverage Containers Program in New Brunswick, a container recycling fee (CRF) is established by Encorp Atlantic/Encorp Atlantique (“Encorp) on container material types as needed to cover the estimated net costs of handling, transportation, processing, and administration for used beverage containers.

Encorp, as a not-for-profit organization, regularly assesses expenses and incomes associated with each type of container to ensure that the appropriate fees are applied. Brand owners can expect CRFs to be adjusted annually, with new rates usually coming into effect on April 1 every year; however, Encorp reserves the right to adjust the CRFs if needed at any point in time in response to unanticipated financial events. Any changes to CRFs are announced at least 90 days before they become effective.

We are pleased to provide this advance notice of CRF changes in New Brunswick that will take effect on April 1, 2025.

*Applies to all beverage containers up to a maximum of 5 L for products that fit the Designated Materials Regulation’s definition of “beverage.”

NOTE: There are no changes to deposit amounts on beverage containers paid by consumers at point-of-purchase (retail). Current deposit/refund amounts will remain the same.

More information for brand owners on CRFs – and all aspects of the EPR Beverage Containers Program in New Brunswick – can be found on our website via the Beverage Industry menu at encorpatl.ca.
