In July 2024, significant updates to New Brunswick’s Designated Materials Regulation under the Clean Environment Act took effect. This legislation governs all Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) programs in the province, including the Beverage Containers Program.
All producer responsibility organizations, including Encorp Atlantic, must comply with the revised Designated Materials Regulation (2024-37) by January 1, 2026. We encourage all brand owners to review the Regulation if not already done so.
To meet these requirements, we will revise and resubmit our Stewardship Plan for the Extended Producer Responsibility Beverage Containers Program to Recycle NB by June 1, 2025. We will notify you once it receives final approval.
We will also actively communicate with all registered brand owners throughout the year to help you understand the changes and prepare you to meet your obligations under the revised Regulation. Watch for further updates and guidance in the coming months.
