1st Saint Margaret’s Scouting Group Takes Care of Fredericton’s Old Burial Grounds

On the evening of Wednesday, May 17, the 1st St. Margaret’s Scouting Group, including Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts, and Venturer Scouts, with their adult leaders, did a phenomenal job cleaning up Fredericton’s Old Burial Ground. They were helped by volunteers from Fredericton Heritage Trust and by Beavers from the 3rd Fredericton Beaver Colony.  In total, there were 70 Recycling Heroes that cleaned up the Old Burial Ground.

The Evening at the Old Burial Ground

The youth and leaders gathered at the Burial Ground at 6:30 pm and worked hard for 2 hours to get the space clean again. To make the work more efficient, they divided the Burial Ground into quadrants and assigned a cleanup crew to tackle each section. Under the direction of adult team leaders, each squad picked up garbage and recyclables, piled up broken branches, and raked and bagged all the dead leaves that covered the Burial Ground.

Thanks to The Scouts for Their Efforts

Fredericton’s Old Burial Ground is in much better shape now thanks to the efforts of all these Recycling Heroes. Litter was cleaned, recyclables were taken care of, and the grounds were cleared all thanks to this diligent cleanup crew. Encorp is excited to have been able to support the work completed by the 1st Saint Margaret’s Scouting Group and hopes they continue to make the province a better place.
