Stewardship Plan
As the official producer responsibility organization (PRO) operating and managing the EPR Beverage Containers Program in New Brunswick in effect since April 1, 2024, Encorp Atlantic met its obligation of submitting a Stewardship Plan to Recycle NB, as required by legislation. This Stewardship Plan – approved by Recycle NB – is available to access on Recycle NB’s website.
2024 Annual Report
The Beverage Containers Program successfully transitioned to an extended producer responsibility model in 2024, and with that shift came progress across the board! Here are just a few highlights:
- Full refunds introduced, putting the full 10 or 20 cents back in the hands of recyclers.
- A 76.6% recovery rate, exceeding our 73% target
- 88% of New Brunswickers aware of beverage container deposits and refunds, far exceeding our 75% target.
- 82 schools in the Recycling Heroes in School program, returning approximately 935,500 containers for recycling.
- 30 Community Cleanup Grants awarded, supporting action by Recycling Heroes across the province.
Our 2024 Annual Report details this transition and the many other initiatives that Encorp carried out throughout the year.
2023 Annual Report
2023 marked a significant turning point for Encorp Atlantic as we geared up for the shift to Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), which would take effect on April 1, 2024, and place us entirely in charge of managing and administering the province’s Beverage Containers Program.
The year was filled with significant milestones. We launched the newly formed non-profit organization Encorp Atlantic/Encorp Atlantique, took on the additional task of managing the alcohol beverage container stream, transitioned to new service providers, and crafted our Stewardship Plan for the new EPR Program.
