Abbey-Landry Students Create Environmental Challenge for the Community

The students of Abbey-Landry held their cleanup event throughout Memramcook on June 3rd as part of their community day. To make the day more exciting, these creative Recycling Heroes put together an environmental challenge for both students and community members. Their project was, unsurprisingly, a huge success, and everyone was thrilled to be involved!

The Nature Challenge

The students at Abbey-Landry clearly understand that learning about the environment and making positive changes doesn’t have to be boring. To make the day’s activities more engaging for everyone, they put together a bingo sheet of eco-friendly challenges. Participants were encouraged to complete tasks such as cleaning the trash in their yard, recycling beverage containers at a redemption centre, installing a bird feeder in their yard, and much more.

What’s a Challenge Without Prizes?

Everyone who participated in the challenges or the cleanup event was also rewarded for their efforts. Each participant was able to take home a couple of seedlings that had been donated by Irving Woodlands, and then they were able to put their name in a draw to win one of many prizes picked out by the students. The available prizes were all eco-friendly goodies so the participants could continue to make a positive difference in a fun way.

Congratulations to these students for doing such a great job to get everyone involved in their community day, and many thanks for all the hard work they’ve done! New Brunswick is lucky to have such creative students and Recycling Heroes.
