On Sunday, November 5th, the 1st Kennebecasis Valley Baden Powell Service Association (BPSA) worked together with the Hammond River Angling Association (HRAA) to clean up the Hammond River and nearby streets. Thanks so much to these Recycling Heroes for teaming up to remove the garbage and recyclables that were littering one of our beautiful rivers.
Amazing Work From All Around
The whole group managed to clean up a truly impressive amount of litter! With 26 Recycling Heroes, they were able to fill up 12 whole bags of garbage and 3 full bags of recyclables, including discarded beverage containers. This effort resulted in them cleaning up 5km of shoreline along the Hammond River!
An Act Worth Celebrating
With the help of their $500 Community Cleanup Grant, the 1st Kennebecasis Valley BPSA provided the cleanup crew with a nice thank you. The volunteers that lent a hand that day were able to warm up and celebrate with some hot, tasty food at the Conservation Centre after – a treat well deserved!
Thank you so much to this cleanup’s organizers as well as to all the Recycling Heroes who volunteered to clean the shoreline that day! It’s always worth the effort it takes to clean up our community, toss the trash where it belongs, and ensure those recyclables get recycled.
