Encorp has received numerous reports from consumers indicating that deposits are being incorrectly charged on certain beverage products, specifically Meal Replacements and Formulated Liquid Diets. This is a quick reminder to producers and retailers to make sure beverage container deposit charges are in compliance with the New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island beverage container programs.
Products labeled as “Meal Replacements” or “Formulated Liquid Diets” are not included in either program and should not have a deposit charged. In contrast, products that may appear similar but are labeled as “Nutritional Supplements” are included in the programs and must have a deposit applied.
If you are ever uncertain whether one of your products is deposit-bearing, please contact us at [email protected] and include a photo of the product label. Our team will review the product and advise whether it is deposit-bearing.
