Prince Edward Island (PEI) is transitioning to an Extended Producer Responsibility program for their beverage container recycling program beginning April 1, 2026. We are excited to announce that Encorp will be assuming the role of Producer Responsibility Organization for PEI producers.
To reflect these upcoming changes, we are making minor adjustments to some of our communications materials to ensure they are relevant for redemption centres (RCs) in both provinces. We have updated the Quality Control (QC) Measures document to reflect these changes. Please note that there are NO changes to QC procedures – only wording and visuals have been modified to make the document applicable to both New Brunswick (NB) and PEI. The updated document is available on Encorp’s website.
As a reminder, the How to Sort and Bulk Deposit-Bearing Beverage Containers – Refillable Glass (Beer) and Pickup Schedules documents were also recently revised following Moosehead’s decision to discontinue the sale of its products in refillable beer bottles.
Several other documents in the Operations & Logistics binder have received minor updates. Please note, however, that none of these additional changes affect RC operations.
Because of all these updates, we have reprinted every document from the Operations & Logistics binder and packaged the full updated set along with your RC Journal. Please remove all existing documents from your binder and replace them with the newly printed versions to ensure you are always referencing the most current information.
In addition, we have improved the layout of the RC operators section of our website to make navigation easier for RCs in each province. You will now find NB Program and PEI Program links in the RC Operators menu. The NB Program link will take you to a page specifically for NB RC operators, where you can access all the information and resources you need from Encorp.
